group.
BookCourier
from Springer Design, Inc.
Springer Design, Inc. is the maker of BookCourier, an accessible reading device
designed specifically for people with disabilities that make reading difficult.
BookCourier’s text-to-speech engine reads text files from a variety of sources,
including Kurzweil 1000, Bookshare.org, your favorite word processing package,
your email package, or your Internet browser. Plus, BookCourier plays spoken
word MP3 files from providers such as Audible.com as well as standard music MP3
files.
The Kurzweil 1000 product allows users to transfer files directly from Kurzweil
1000 into BookCourier. As a result, you can listen to Kurzweil 1000 files
anywhere, anytime. Imagine listening to Kurzweil 1000 files while commuting,
exercising, doing household chores, or even falling asleep in bed. BookCourier
gives you as much or more flexibility than the average book-toting reader.

Bookshare.org – offering on-line access to thousands of titles of interest to
students and readers of all ages, including best sellers and newly released
titles.
Bookshare.org is an online community for individuals whose disability makes it
difficult to access text in printed form. Visitors to their site will find a
broad variety of publications in specialized formats for the disabled. Users of
Kurzweil Educational products have direct access to thousands of titles of
interest to students and readers of all ages, including many bestsellers and
newly released titles.

The
Consortium of School Networking (COSN)
COSN's initiative is to promote the use of information technologies and the
Internet to ensure technology has a positive effect on learning by focusing on
leadership development, coalition building, advocacy and emerging technologies.
Kurzweil Educational has joined this initiative to expand access to technology
for all students with COSN and other leaders in the industry. This "Accessible
Technologies for All Students Initiative" was formed to create dialogue between
general and special education technology decision makers.

IntelliTools,
Inc.
IntelliTools has worked with Kurzweil Educational Systems to develop overlays
to access Kurzweil 3000. IntelliKeys overlays allow customized access to
Kurzweil 3000’s many features, including reading, writing, study skills, and
test-taking.

Landmark College
Landmark College in Putney, Vermont is the nation's premier college for high
potential students with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders.
Kurzweil Educational and Landmark College have partnered to provide innovative
ways to develop the most effective reading and writing solutions for college
students with learning disabilities. Research conducted on campus has shown
that students with ADHD using Kurzweil 3000 increased their reading rate by
over 50%, were able to concentrate for longer periods of time, and felt less
stressed and more optimistic about their schoolwork.

Learning Disabilities
Worldwide, Inc.
Learning Disabilities Worldwide, Inc. (LDW) is a non-profit, volunteer
organization including individuals with learning disabilities, their families,
and professionals. LDW works to enhance the lives of individuals with learning
disabilities, with a special emphasis on the underserved. LDW and Kurzweil
Educational are partners dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all
individuals with learning disabilities and their families, and to alleviating
the restricting effects of learning disabilities.LDW is devoted to defining and
creating solutions for the broad spectrum of learning problems.
Kurzweil Educational Systems is proud to be a sponsor of LDW's series of
Contemporary Journals, which chronicles articles and research from the leaders

Madentec Limited
Madentec Limited is a leading supplier of computer access products for people
with physical disabilities. One or two switch scanning, alternative keyboard,
and on screen keyboard access methods are provided through the use of Discover
products. These products are ideally suited to people with physical
disabilities such as: Cerebral Palsy, Quadriplegia, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS,
and Muscular Dystrophy. In other words, Discover will benefit any person who
needs an alternative strategy for computer input instead of using the standard
keyboard and/or mouse.
Kurzweil Educational Systems and Madentec Limited have partnered to make
Kurzweil 3000 accessible to students with physical disabilities. Madentec
Limited has developed in-depth Discover setups (on screen keyboards that scan)
to allow the client who requires a scanning technique to efficiently access the
powerful features of Kurzweil 3000 with a minimum of switch hits.

Microsoft
Assistive Technology Vendor Program (MATvp)
Kurzweil Educational Systems is participating in Microsoft’s Assistive
Technology Vendor Program (MATvp) and joins a select group of industry leaders
working with Microsoft to make computers more accessible and user-friendly for
people with disabilities.
As a member of the Microsoft Assistive Technology Vendor Program, Kurzweil
Educational is working with Microsoft to evolve a central resource on the web
where people with disabilities can locate a full range of assistive technology
services.

Technology, Reading and
Learning Disabilities (TRLD)
In October of 2004, Kurzweil Educational Systems' Jackie Wheeler, was invited
to join the TRLD Advisory Board. This board is mainly composed of educators.
Kurzweil Educational Systems holds the only vendor seat.
