Summary: The Canon DR-2580C scanner is an excellent lightweight low-end high-speed duplex scanner (ADF) for traveling, school or home, which support USB (2.0) interface with a unique optional flatbed. The Canon DR 2580C cost is around $700 dollars and the optional flatbed scanner cost is around $500. The Canon DR2580C scanner does work fine with the Kurzweil 1000 & 3000 versions 9. The Kurzweil products will be able to control the brightness and threshold settings for this scanner. This scanner will have a scan time of about 4 seconds per page (Black/White) and about 10 seconds per page (Color).

Caution/Warnings:

• Kurzweil 1000 Only: Scanning from ADF, then switch to flatbed, you must exit the Kurzweil 1000 product first. Now go back into Kurzweil 1000 to scan using the ADF.

Comments/Notes:

• Connect the scanner first, then driver for the scanner.
• To just install the Twain driver. Open the CD and go into the driver folder and run: setup.exe.
• Installation of software is customizable. Only need to install Twain driver and the Window Driver for the device.
• Other components that can be installed: - CapturePerfect (Can be use for creating TIFF files for batch processing and duplex scanning)
