Scanner: Hewlett Packard Scanjet 8270 Document Flatbed Scanner

Summary: The Hewlett Packard Scanjet 8270 Document Flatbed Scanner is a legal size flatbed scanner with a 50 page ADF, which has the capability of performing duplex scanning with the use of the ADF to flip the pages. This scanner works with both the Kurzweil 1000 & 3000, but will need the newest "TWAINInterface.ocx" file (5/17/06) to make this scanner to work properly. This scanner will have a scan time for flatbed scanning, of about 10 seconds per page (Black/White) and about 15 seconds per page (Color). The scan time with Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) is about 17 seconds per page (Black/White) and about 25 seconds per page (Color). The cost of this scanner is around $899.99.

Caution/Warnings:

• Scanner bar take 5 seconds to get from home position to the ADF scanner bar position
• Need to use the HP Scanjet 8270 Document TWAIN
• Needs the latest "TWAINInterface.ocx" file (5/17/06): Copy into c:\Program Files\Kurzweil Educational Systems\Common files – (Replace the older file)

Comments/Notes:

• Only need to install the "Specialized document driver & tools Captiva ISIS/TWAIN"
• Scanner warm-up or initiation time on first scan is about 60 seconds
• Scanner bar takes 5 seconds to get from home position to the ADF scanner bar position
• There is a switch on the ADF for Double Sided or Single Sided scanning when using the ADF
