Introduction
Using Kurzweil 1000, you can access electronic books, text, magazine articles from a variety of Web sites. For general information and procedures for searching and downloading files from these Web sites, go to Chapter 14, Online Material.
This appendix lists the current Web sites available for searches in Kurzweil 1000, along with more information about each site. 
Search for Books 
Accessible Book Collection, a subscription-based site that provides a large selection of electronic books in HTML format to qualified persons with disabilities. For more information or to subscribe, go to www.accessiblebookcollection.org.
Baen Free Library, www.baen.com, offers select science fiction titles, in several electronic formats, direct from the authors. 
Bookshare.org, subscription-based, is an online book-sharing community for U.S. residents with visual and other print disabilities. Members have access to copyrighted, scanned books in DAISY digital talking book and BRF Braille digital formats. To subscribe, go to www.bookshare.org.
International Braille Research Center offers electronic Braille books of over 1,000 titles from world literature in ASCII text format, Grade II English Braille. You can port the downloaded e-Braille books to Braille notetakers and other devices.
Project Gutenberg, at www.gutenberg.net, is an online repository of electronic text and books. 
Web Braille, a password-protected service of the Library of Congress, provides eligible individuals and institutions access to electronic text from a variety of sources that the service has put into Braille format.

AFB Access World, from the American Foundation for the Blind at www.afb.org, is a monthly magazine which focuses on assistive technology. 
ACB Braille Forum, at www.acb.org, is the monthly periodical from the American Council of the Blind.
NFB Publications, at www.nfb.org, is the newsletter from the National Federation of the Blind. This site includes issues from the Braille Monitor, Voice of the Diabetic and Future Reflections.
Talking Newspaper UK, a subscription-based vendor of U.K. national and local newspaper and magazine services for visually impaired and people with disabilities. For more information or to subscribe, go to www.tnauk.org.uk.
