Displaying or Updating an Image is Slow
This article applies to:
Symptoms
Displaying the image of a page is slow. When the image scrolls from
side to side or up and down, it can take a few seconds for the image to
be painted on the screen.
This problem can appear in the Kurzweil 1000's Show Image window or
in the Kurzweil 3000 when displaying an image.
Cause
Some video cards have an acceleration feature that, oddly enough,
slows down the display of images in Kurzweil products.
Solution
The solution is to lower or turn off video acceleration. The
performance of other applications, or your overall system, will usually
not be noticably affected, with the notable exception of video-intensive
games.
Changing video acceleration is slightly different depending on the
operating system.
On Windows 95:
From the Start button's menu, choose Control Panel. Open the control
panel for Display. A tabbed dialog will appear. Select the Settings tab.
On the Settings page, click the Advanced Properties button. Another
tabbed dialog will appear. Select the Performance tab. On the
Performance page, there is a slider that adjusts the video acceleration.
Slide it all the way to the left. Click OK on the two tabbed dialogs.
On Windows 98 and Windows ME:
From the Start button's menu, choose Control Panel. Open the control
panel for Display. A tabbed dialog will appear. Select the Settings tab.
On the Settings page, click the Advanced button. Another tabbed dialog
will appear. Select the Performance tab. On the Performance page, there
is a slider that adjusts the video acceleration. Slide it all the way to
the left. Click OK on the two tabbed dialogs.
On Windows 2000 and Windows XP:
From the Start button's menu, choose Control Panel. Open the control
panel for Display. A tabbed dialog will appear. Select the Settings tab.
On the Settings page, click the Advanced button. Another tabbed dialog
will appear. Select the Troubleshoot tab. On the Troubleshoot page,
there is a slider that adjusts the video acceleration. Slide it all the
way to the left. Click OK on the two tabbed dialogs.
