Internal Error 2753 During Install

This article applies to:

  • Kurzweil 1000
  • Kurzweil 3000 for Windows

Symptoms

During the installation, a dialog appears with the caption "Internal Error 2753. KESIPrntInstall.exe".

Cause

This problem occurs when an older Kurzweil application is installed on a system that has a newer Kurzweil application already installed. For example, version 7 of the Kurzweil 3000 for Windows was released in January, 2003. Version 7 or the Kurzweil 1000 was released in August, 2002, so it is older. If Kurzweil 3000 version 7 is installed on a system, then Kurzweil 1000 version 7 is installed on the same system, this error will occur.

Solution

When multiple Kurzweil Educational Systems applications are installed on a system, it is critically important that they be installed in the order the applications were released by Kurzweil Educational Systems. Each CD has a date printed on it. If a newer Kurzweil product is already on the system, the safest course of action is to uninstall that product, then install the older product, followed by the newer product.

Uninstalling a Kurzweil application will not delete your settings or documents, so uninstalling and reinstalling will not cause any harm.

A more direct solution to the Internal Error 2753 is to use Windows Explorer to go to Kurweil's common files directory (usually C:\Program Files\Kurzweil Educational Systems\Common Files), delete the KESIPrntInstall.exe and Router.exe programs, then re-install the application whose installation had failed. This avoids the Error 2753, but is not recommended, since installing an older application over a newer application can cause other problems later that will seem mysterious and hard to fix.
