Using JAWS with Kurzweil's DECTalk Access 32
This article applies to:
Symptoms
The user purchased a copy of DECTalk Access 32 from Kurzweil
Educational Systems, but JAWS is unable to speak with it.
Cause
Kurzweil Educational Systems installs a program on the users
computer that verifies the license for DECTalk Access 32. However, if
JAWS runs before the licensing program runs, JAWS will not be able
to use DECTalk Access 32.
Solution
Kurzweil Educational Systems has written a program that changes the
order that JAWS and the DECTalk Access 32 licensing program run at start
up. Use Windows Explorer to go to the diagnostics directory (usually
C:\Program Files\Kurzweil Educational Systems\Diags). Run JFWDEC in
that directory. It will quickly do its work, then it will display a
dialog box announcing that it is done. Re-boot your computer. JAWS
should now be able to speak with DECTalk Access 32.
