Running Kurzweil 1000 when Windows Starts Up

This article explains how to make the Kurzweil 1000 run every time the
computer starts up. It also explains how to stop the Kurzweil 1000 from
running every time Windows starts up.
More Information
Microsoft Windows has a Startup group that contains short cuts to
applications that should run when Windows starts up. Getting Kurzweil
1000 to run when Windows starts up is simply a matter of adding a
shortcut to Kurzweil 1000 to the Startup group. Stopping Kurzweil 1000
from running when Windows starts up is done by removing the shortcut to
Kurzweil 1000 from the Startup group.
The following directions work on Windows 98 and newer operating
systems. If your computer uses Windows 95, please contact our technical
support department.
Adding Kurzweil 1000 to the Startup Group
Bring up the Start menu either by clicking on the Start button or
pressing the Windows key (the second key from the left on the bottom row
of a Windows keyboard). Press the down arrow key to find Programs (or,
on Windows XP, All Programs). Press the Enter key. Press the down arrow
again until you reach Kurzweil Educational Systems. Press the Enter key.
If Kurzweil 1000 is not already selected, press the down arrow until
you find Kurzweil 1000. Press the Application key or press Shift+F10 to
display a context menu for the Kurzweil 1000 shortcut. Type C for Copy.
Press the Escape key once to back up to the Programs menu. You have now
made a copy of the Kurzweil 1000 shortcut.
Next, press the down arrow until you reach Startup. Press the
Application key or press Shift+F10 to display a context menu for the
Startup group. Type O to open an Explorer window for that group. Type
Ctrl+V to paste a copy of the Kurzweil 1000 shortcut into the Startup
group.
Removing Kurzweil 1000 from the Startup Group
Bring up the Start menu either by clicking on the Start button or
pressing the Windows key (the second key from the left on the bottom row
of a Windows keyboard). Press the down arrow key to find Programs (or,
on Windows XP, All Programs). Press the Enter key. Press the down arrow
again until you reach Startup. Press the Enter key. Press the down
arrow until you find Kurzweil 1000. Press the Application key or press
Shift+F10 to display a context menu for the Kurzweil 1000 shortcut.
Type D for delete. A dialog box will appear, asking you to confirm your
choice. Click the Delete Shortcut button.
