Unable to Read Books from Bookshare.org

Symptoms

Downloading a book from Bookshare.org works, but the Kurzweil 1000 or Kurzweil 3000 is unable to open or read it.

Cause

Some advertisment blocking software corrupts the downloaded file. The program AdSubtract, which prevents advertisements from appearing in web browsers, is known to insert characters into the file downloaded from Bookshare.org, thereby corrupting the file and making it unreadable. Other ad blocking programs might cause similar problems.

Solution

Disable or shut down your ad blocking program before downloading books from Bookshare.org. Some ad blocking programs might have configuration options that allow you to specify web sites that should not be blocked. If your program has this feature, add www.bookshare.org to the list of sites that should not be blocked.
