Virtual Printer Starts Up Kurzweil 1000 or 3000 with Wrong
User
This article applies to:
Symptoms
When the user runs an application and use it to print to the
KESI
Virtual Printer, the Kurzweil 1000 or 3000 starts up, but it is running
as the wrong user. This may mean that the options are not set as
expected, or the default directory for opening and saving files is
wrong, or certain files and directories can not be accessed.
This problem can occur on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
Cause
The Virtual Printer runs the Kurzweil 1000 or 3000, and so the
1000
or 3000 run as the same user as the Virtual Printer is running. If the
Virtual Printer was launched by the user's application, then everything
will work properly. But if the Virtual Printer was run by the print
spooler, then it will be running as the same user that the spooler runs
as: typically, the System user.
Solution
Go to the Printers control panel and display the Properties
dialog
for the KESI Virtual Printer. Go to the Advanced tab. Select the "Print
directly to printer" option and click OK.
