Accessing Online Features Causes a Windows Security Alert Window to Appear

Symptoms

When accessing online features such as “News from KESI…”, “Updates…” from Kurzweil 1000 or Kurzweil 3000 for Windows products, or online books or magazines, a Windows Security Alert window asks “Do you want to keep blocking this program?”

Cause

Kurzweil 1000 or 3000 may have been installed on a system which has Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed.  By default, Windows XP Service Pack 2 enables a software firewall which blocks any unknown connection from the Internet or a network.

Solution

When the Windows Security Alert window appear, it has the question appears: “Do you want to keep blocking this program?

Name: Kurzweil “1000” or “3000”

Publisher: Kurzweil Educational Systems, Inc.

 Select the “Unblock” button to allow users to have access.
